Copyright & License

Authors who publish with HURMAH: Islamic Journal of Human Rights agree to the following terms:

  1. Copyright and License:Authors retain copyright to their work. They grant the journal the right of first publication, and simultaneously license the work under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (CC BY-SA 4.0). This license allows anyone to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material) for any purpose, including commercially, subject to the following conditions:
    • Attribution:Users must give appropriate credit to the author(s), provide a link to the license, indicate if changes were made, and acknowledge the work's initial publication in this journal. This credit must not suggest the authors or journal endorse the user or their use.
    • ShareAlike:If users remix, transform, or build upon the material, they must license their new contributions under the identical license (CC BY-SA 4.0).
      No additional legal or technological restrictions may be applied that prevent others from doing anything the license permits.
  2. Additional Distribution:Authors are free to enter into separate, additional contractual agreements (e.g., for deposit in an institutional repository, publication in a book, or distribution on a scholarly networking site) for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of their work. Any such distribution must include explicit acknowledgement of the work's initial publication in this journal.
  3. Preprint and Self-Archiving Policy:Authors are expressly permitted and encouraged to share their work publicly at any point—prior to submission, during the review process, or after publication—in recognized preprint servers, institutional repositories, or on their personal websites. This practice is endorsed to facilitate early scholarly exchange and may enhance the visibility and citation impact of the final published work.
  4. Author Warranties:By submitting the manuscript, the author(s) warrant and affirm that: the submitted work is an original creation authored by the stated author(s); it has not been previously published in any form; it contains no unlawful statements and does not infringe upon the rights of any third party; and all necessary written permissions to quote from or reproduce any copyrighted material from other sources have been secured by the author(s) and can be furnished to the editorial office upon request.
